Oil and brine released near Lignite

One hundred barrels (4,200 gallons) of brine and oil were spilled into a slough in Burke County yesterday according to Forum News Service and the North Dakota Department of Health. An undetermined ratio of brine and oil was released from a feeding line from an oil well just outside of Lignite, N.D. Cleanup response is being monitored.

The Forum reports:

Health Department officials said Centennial, Colo. based Taqa has an environmental consultant on site evaluating and planning a coordinated response, which includes removing impacted water and oil from the slough.
